When I learned that money can be made online, that got me intrigued. I started googling and that pointed me to a number of sites. I soon found out there were a 101 ways to make money online.
However, the more I learned, the more I got confused. Why? Everywhere I looked, there’s always this person that says he or she is earning a gazzillion dollars doing something online but won’t really tell you what it is they do.
There’s always this vague system that only they know that you can also learn, for a certain fee of course. I even got these free ebooks, from… I won’t mention the name here, but I realized later that they were just researched topics on the net and the only reason I got them for free was that they needed my e-mail to add to their opt-in list. Hmm… Nice trick!
This is still being done today but they’re now giving away free software, but the watered down versions with minimal features. You need to upgrade and buy the full featured software to get better results.
I still fall for it anyway, the free ones, just to see if it really works.
You read the testimonials and checks they receive monthly for their effort. They tell you that it’s that easy making money and all you have to do is sit back and count your money every month. Making it workout and succeed, on the other hand, is not quite as easy as it seems.
The kicker is always that you have to purchase this or that ebook, cd or whatever that teaches you everything you have to know to become a gazzillionaire online.
Hmmm….. sounds legit….. but my spidey sense tell me something else…. If it’s too good to be true, then …. That’s just probably it, you’re gonna get suckered and be left holding the bag.
The problem here is you won’t really know which system will really work or not until you try it for yourself.
I’ve been a victim of several multi-level marketing crap that promises you high returns for your investing in their so called ‘product’, they hype it with promises of earning and making millions and when you’re knee deep into it, you realize that you’ve been scammed and just chuck it all to experience and hope that God would strike all those that benefited from your hard earned money with lightning. Oh well, I got greedy and look where it got me.
After all the bad and sad news, is there a light at the end of the tunnel you might ask? Well, to tell you frankly, I think there is. But it won’t be a walk in the park. There are things to learn to make a real and honest way to make a living and eventually make money online.
Even though you read all the ebooks about making money online, you still have to make a decision and rely on your knowledge, intuition, guts and resolve to make things work that will be right for you.
You might be able to learn a few tricks here and there, but ultimately, it will all boil down to testing things by yourself. If it works, then well and good. Making money on the net is not such a hard thing after all. If it bombs, you have to take the necessary steps to make things work.
If you’re a beginner, I highly recommend getting hold of Holly Mann’s “Honest Riches” e-book. It’s a good place to start.

And one more thing, the internet is such a vacillating, dynamic thing. It changes every second. So, information you have today might not be applicable after a year or so.
Take for instance, Squidoo. Those that jumped into the wagon early on got terrific results. Then suddenly, Google decides to change the rules and everything went awry.
I can honestly say that I’m still a newbie when it comes to trying to make a living online. I still have a looong way to go. I’m still in the testing and trying it out stage.
The reason I’m doing this blog is to journal the things that I’ve done for the past month or so to get to my objective. I know it won’t be easy, I still have to add more content, get traffic, etc. If these things are easy, everyone would be making a lot of money online.
The other reason is for me not to procrastinate, slack and take things lightly as I did before. I sort of wrote about this in my other site with the title - “Do you Want to Know a Secret?”. That sight I’m referring to btw is my very first one that I started while waiting for the approval of my domain name, site, host, etc.
It’s free and it’s from Google. You only need to have a valid email and you’re good to go. So if you want to try it, go to Google Page Creator. Google also has a free blog so if you’re into blogging, click here. Wordpress has a free blog too, click here.
Social networking sites such as:
Bebo, Uber, MySpace , Flickr, Facebook
Although they’re geared towards the teens and twenty something demographics, it wouldn’t hurt to know what they’re into, who knows they might have a tip or two on how they’re making money online.
If you want a more detailed list and description, here’s the link.
Read everything you need to know about these sites before signing up. Don’t just sign in and hope for the best. You need to know at the very start the reason why you would choose a certain site, if it would suite whatever purpose you have in mind or not. If it does, then go sign up.
As I said in my earlier post, I suggest knowing a little HTML, CSS, javascript or php would greatly benefit you in the long run. It took me around a month and a half or two to learn bits and pieces of code to make my own site.
I settled for Wordpress because after learning how it worked, I noticed that it has a lot of themes to choose from and it’s easier to maintain and hack. There’s a learning curve but it really is all worth the effort.
GPC or Google Page Creator is more of HTML and javascript based. I had a lot of help from the forum members specially prac who practically knows a lot of hacks when it comes to using GPC.
I even kidded him that Google ought to pay him money for his services. Being a nice guy, he was happy just being praised for helping newbies get into the groove.
It took me around a month or so before my site got indexed by google. Although it is hosted on google’s server, they don’t automatically point their bots to crawl your site unless it has a bit of content or you submit your site to search engines or maybe let other website owners backlink their site to yours.
There were a couple of tips in the forum on how to do this. Just follow them and you’ll eventually have results.
When I finally saw my site landing on the very first page of my google search, I got excited. I thought to myself, this money-making- online thing could work.
Although my site didn’t appear using the keywords I used, at least when I searched for the title, I got all the links which has my nick on it.
I have all results pointing one way or another to my site. No competition, I just compete with myself…lol… That’s perfectly fine with me. If money making is this easy, I’ll be a money making mogul in no time! You got to dream, don’t you?
I then proceeded to sign in to google’s adsense. That took around a week or so before I got the congratulations e-mail.
In the meantime, while I was waiting for my domain name and hosting for approval, I was tinkering around with wordpress and experimenting with the themes and finally settling with the one I’m currently using for this site.
Nice thing with wordpress is that you can install it on your desktop and be able to experiment with the various themes and stuff you can later use on your site. It’s a bit easier to manage compared to Google page creator (GPC).
But if you’re really serious about setting up a money making site, you need to have a domain name, a host to ftp your pages and a way to send or more importantly receive money, and more money like paypal, i.e. if you plan to sell stuff or maybe have an affiliate program you’d like to promote on your site. For those who can’t use paypal, maybe you can use 2Checkout.
And speaking of paypal, I’ve been a registered member since about late 2006 or was that early 2007, anyway it’s only now that I’m registering to be a verified member.
Problem is, I’m still having problems with the new debit card I got from a local bank. So, currently I’m still unverified. Sigh…..
So for now I’ll be following up on the card and maybe try to sign up to other sources that can add to my making money online lifestyle work.
Update: This late afternoon when I opened my e-mail, the bank said that I have at least to deposit a certain amount of money before my card can be verified with paypal. Ok, so I’ll do that asap and maybe it will work out fine this time.
